Lanzarote: 3 reasons you should Bed, Breakfast & Bike it đźš´
The finest of experiences one can have is in the present. So to best perceive this experience one should prime their mental state. Well nature has it’s own miracle grow for the BRAIN, called Brain derived neurotropic factor (BDNF). BDNF is released endogenously in peak concentrations during prolonged aerobic activity.
Now I present to you my solo 4-day cycle tour of Lanzarote đźš´
1. Volcanoes de Lanza
Imagine gliding on the silkiest of roads whilst being in awe of the magma laden scape coming at you. Yes, they call this ride the devil’s route. Even with the cool winter sun, my limbs were blissfully toasted by the end of this 10km stretch.
What better way to treat yourself than stopping by at the quaint vinery, El Gringo, on the plains of the Timanfaya national park. I recommend the local volcanic wine🍷
2. Beach de Lanza
From the fiery depths of volcanic hell, day 2 took me alongside the majestic coastline. But don’t let the cyan hues lull you into false comfort, the cross-winds were immense & the rain by the bucketful. This ultimately made the fish soup at the rest spot in El Golfo even warmer.
3. People of Lanza
Segway from the fish soup to the people that served me said soup. An outstandingly graceful Mediterranean lady. Whilst I tried to concoct a meaningful phrase to connect with this lady, she welcomed me with a cute smile. This was followed by the most eloquent gibberish, of course she was greeting me in Spanish, an alien realm of phonotactics to my untrained ears. I embarrassingly replied,
"Sorry, English?"
At the turn of a hat she switched her phonotactics and responded..
"Oh I thought you were Spanish, anyways what I wanted to say was that I hope you enjoyed the soup, we hadn't started our dinner service yet when you arrived on your bike but didn't want to turn you back, so we served you the warmest thing we had leftover from our kitchen staff dinner, pay for it what you want."
I was humbled by this gesture, and sure enough the warm feeling carried me to the hotel in a flash, as the sun set behind the archipelago's coastline🔆
